Microwaveable Hot Wax

HEY, GORGEOUS! Considering home waxing? Whether for the face, legs, bikini or underarm areas, our tried and tested microwaveable hot wax is a perfect choice, especially for short, coarse hair

BOTANICAL EXTRACTS: The peel-off wax is formulated with Shea Butter, one of nature’s superfoods for the skin. This serves to nourish, soothe and moisturise the skin and promote overall skin health

SMOOTH, HAIR-FREE SKIN: Waxing removes hair from the roots, leaving you with long-lasting smoothness for up to 4 weeks. Over time, regular waxing produces silkier, sparser and softer hair

This wax is formulated with natural ingredients and as such, colour variations may occur.

DIRECTIONS & PRECAUTIONS

Smooth, hair-free skin is as simple as 1, 2, 3, 4

step1

Ensure your skin is clean and dry. Heat the tray of wax on a suitable plate in the microwave for 2 minutes. Do not allow it to overheat or bubble. Leaving the tray on the plate, stir the wax with the spatula to distribute the heat evenly. The consistency should be like that of thick honey.

step2

Test the temperature of the wax on the inside of your wrist, then use the spatula to apply a generous layer of wax against the direction of hair growth.

step3

Once the wax is no longer tacky but still warm and pliable, loosen the end of the patch to get a firm grip on the wax. If the wax is left on the skin too long (more than a minute or so), it may become brittle, hard and difficult to remove.

step4

Hold the skin taut with the other hand, and staying close and parallel to the skin, pull back the wax quickly and decisively against the direction of hair growth. Apply firm pressure onto the waxed area with your palm to relieve any discomfort.

top-tip

Use a little baby oil to remove any sticky residue that may remain. If you're susceptible to ingrown hairs, regular exfoliation and daily moisturisation goes a long way to help prevent this.

PRECAUTIONS

Before waxing: Due to the nature of hot wax, this product is best suited to experienced waxers. For the best results, optimal comfort, and the smoothest finish, ensure your unwanted hair is around 3-5mm.  Trim hair if necessary.

Patch test: Prior to each application, it is crucial to complete a patch test to determine skin compatibility. Following on-pack directions, apply the hot wax to a small area in which you wish to remove hair. Remove as recommended. If your skin is calm and comfortable after 24 hours, proceed with a full application. Your skin may become slightly reddened after waxing - this is normal and will disappear after a few hours. If skin irritation occurs, discontinue use.

  • Do not use if diabetic
  • Use on skin treated with prescription medication that could affect the skin structure
  • Do not use any deodorant or any products containing fragrance or alcohol before, or immediately after waxing.
  • Do not wax over acne, cuts, sunburnt skin, moles, varicose veins, warts, eczema, open wounds or any other skin ailments.
  • Do not wax repeatedly over the same area as this may cause bruising.
  • Do not scratch or rub the skin after waxing.
  • Do not expose waxed area to harsh sunlight or hot water before or after waxing. We recommend waiting 8 hours before suntanning.
  • Do not apply the wax to any area around the eyes or inside the nose.
  • Do not heat the spatula with the wax tray in the microwave.
  • Do not recycle the wax.

Keep out of reach of children

Warning: In case of burning - run cold water over the affected area for 10 minutes. Do not try to remove the wax. Cover with a cold compress and seek medical attention.

FAQ

I’ve heard waxing can be sore or uncomfortable which makes me apprehensive. Is this true?

Waxing removes the hair from the root, so yes, there’s a level of sensation as nerves surround that hair root. But everyone is different and the experience varies from person to person. Avoid waxing a few days before or after your period, as your skin is more sensitive at this time. The muscles around the hair contract when it is cold, so wax in a warm room where those muscles are relaxed and comfortable which will minimise any discomfort. If you can pull a plaster off your skin, you’ll be just fine with waxing!

How hot should the wax be?

Follow the heating instructions on pack to heat the wax. Bear in mind that the wattage of the microwave and the amount of product in the jar has an impact on the heating time required. Stir the heated wax to ensure even temperature distribution. It should be hot enough to dissolve any hard lumps of wax, but never bubbling. Test the temperature by placing a small drop of wax to the inside of the wrist. The sensation of the wax on your skin should feel hot, but not to the extent of any discomfort.

How should I prepare my skin before waxing?

Waxing works best on clean, dry skin that is free of moisture, sweat or natural body oils. We don’t suggestion moisturising the skin before a wax. If you’re in a humid environment, apply a light layer of talc to the skin before waxing to absorb any excess moisture.

Do I need epilating strips for this product?

No – Mandy’s Microwaveable Wax is a peel-off wax.

I didn’t find the product effective – what went wrong?

Ensure the wax is hot and malleable enough to grip on to the hairs – if it’s too cold, it won’t do so. Ensure your skin is clean, dry and in good condition – if it is too dry and scaly, or sticky and greasy, the wax will not work effectively.

Can I clean the wax and reuse it?

Recycling wax it not advisable – it’s both unhygienic and compromises the integrity of the wax.

There’s a slight stickiness or residue after I’ve used the wax – how can I get rid of this?

The easiest way to remove the residue is by using a little of your everyday moisturiser, body lotion or baby oil.

Is this product vegan and cruelty-free?

All Mandy’s products are cruelty-free but this product contains some beeswax, so cannot be classified as vegan.

Unsatisfactory

July 12, 2021

I bought the product from my local clicks and followed the instructions on the box. I placed the container on a microwaveable dish in a 900 watt microwave for 2 minutes. The result was that the wax was not melted, yet the bottom of the container had melted away, leaving the wax unusable as I did not want to put burnt plastic on my body.
