DIRECTIONS & PRECAUTIONS

Smooth, hair-free skin is as simple as 1, 2, 3, 4

step1

Ensure your skin is clean and dry. Heat the jar of wax on a suitable plate in the microwave for 60 seconds.

step2

With the jar of wax remaining on the plate, stir the wax with the spatula to distribute the heat evenly.

step3

After testing the temperature on your wrist, use the spatula supplied to apply a thin layer wax in the direction of hair growth.

step4

Once the wax is set but still pliable, loosen the end of the patch to get a firm grip on the wax. Hold the skin taut with the other hand, and staying close and parallel to the skin, pull back the wax quickly and decisively in the opposite direction of hair growth. Apply firm pressure onto the waxed area with your palm to relieve any discomfort.

top-tip

If there's any stickiness or wax residue that remains, just use a little moisturiser or baby oil to remove it

PRECAUTIONS

  • Waxing may not be suitable for those with sensitive or problem skin, the elderly or diabetics or if you have suffered an adverse reaction to waxes in the past
  • Waxing is not suitable for those on prescription medication that may cause thinning of the skin.
  • Do not use if you are having any dermatological treatment such as laser resurfacing dermabrasion or skin peels.
  • Do not wax over acne, cuts, recent scars, sunburnt skin, moles, varicose veins, warts, eczema or open wounds.
  • Do not use if skin is broken, irritated, inflamed or chapped.
  • Do not use around the eyes, inside the nose or ears, on nipples or scalp. Do not apply on the anus or close to mucous membranes. When waxing genitalia, ensure that your technique is sound, and that you exercise special caution to avoid damaging sensitive areas.
  • Do not wax repeatedly over the same area as this may cause bruising.
  • Avoid waxing sensitive/intimate areas just before or during menstruation.
  • Always conduct a patch test before applying wax. Heat wax as per directions and apply to a patch of skin in the area to be waxed. Remove wax as per instructions and wait 24 hours. If your skin is calm and comfortable, proceed with a full application.
  • Always heat the wax in a microwave oven. No other heating methods are suitable. Place the jar on a microwaveable plate prior to heating. Remain present when wax is being heated in microwave. Microwave ovens vary in power output so heating times are a guideline only.
  • It is normal for skin to be slightly red after waxing, but should soon subside. In case of burning, run cold water over the affected area for 10 minutes and seek medical attention.
  • Newly waxed skin is vulnerable, so treat it with respect. Do not bath in hot water within 2 hours before or after waxing.
  • Do not use any deodorant or any products containing fragrance or alcohol before or immediately after waxing – wait 12 – 24 hours.
  • If irritation occurs, discontinue use of the product, treat symptomatically. Seek medical advice if there is no significant improvement after 12 – 24 hours
  • Do not re-use the wax.
  • Keep out of reach of children and pets

FAQ

I’ve heard waxing can be sore or uncomfortable which makes me apprehensive. Is this true?

Waxing removes the hair from the root, so yes, there’s a level of sensation as nerves surround that hair root. But everyone is different and the experience varies from person to person. Avoid waxing a few days before or after your period, as your skin is more sensitive at this time. The muscles around the hair contract when it is cold, so wax in a warm room where those muscles are relaxed and comfortable which will minimise any discomfort. If you can pull a plaster off your skin, you’ll be just fine with waxing!

How hot should the wax be?

Follow the heating instructions on pack to heat the wax. Bear in mind that the wattage of the microwave and the amount of product in the jar has an impact on the heating time required. Stir the heated wax to ensure even temperature distribution. It should be hot enough to dissolve any hard lumps of wax, but never bubbling. Test the temperature by placing a small drop of wax to the inside of the wrist. The sensation of the wax on your skin should feel hot, but not to the extent of any discomfort.

How should I prepare my skin before waxing?

Waxing works best on clean, dry skin that is free of moisture, sweat or natural body oils. We don’t suggestion moisturising the skin before a wax. If you’re in a humid environment, apply a light layer of talc to the skin before waxing to absorb any excess moisture.

Do I need epilating strips for this product?

No – Mandy’s Film Wax is a peel off wax.

I didn’t find the product effective – what went wrong?

Ensure the wax is hot and malleable enough to grip on to the hairs – if it’s too cold, it won’t do so. Ensure your skin is clean, dry and in good condition – if it is too dry and scaly, or sticky and greasy, the wax will not work effectively.

Can I clean the wax and reuse it?

Recycling wax it not advisable – it’s both unhygienic and compromises the integrity of the wax.

There’s a slight stickiness or residue after I’ve used the wax – how can I get rid of this?

Is this product vegan and cruelty-free?

All Mandy’s products are cruelty-free but this product contains some beeswax, so cannot be classified as vegan.

I am a HUGE fan of Mandy’s and just to eager to try all the products. When I could not find a salon to have my face waxed, I decided to try and do it myself, the obvious choice was Mandy’s Film wax face and Brow, OMG painfree, no breakouts, just gorgeous hairless skin. What made it more exciting for me was that it came with its own microwavable container, again no mess. Simply loved the experience and will continue to use it.

ONLY WAX I USE

Rated 5 out of 5
February 8, 2021

This is the only wax I use on myself and my daughters. The best brand! However, what I have discovered is that the wax needs to be a little warmer than what it recommends in order for it to work very well. It removes my daughter’s brows and she has very thick hair and stubborn hair follicles.
